About the role

Bark has thousands of categories – from B2B services like accountants and web designers through to consumer services like personal trainers and photographers. The Product Marketing Manager is a key strategic role in the business where you’ll have complete ownership over one or more categories.
You’ll work with a great team spanning digital and offline marketing, sales, business development and research in order to manage and grow your categories.


  • Full ownership of one or more Bark categories
  • Research and suggest new categories
  • Lead category setup and launch including market and customer research, devising the questions we ask buyers who are looking to find professionals in that category, plan initial launch including PR, supplier outreach and creation of customer communications, emails and website content
  • Setting pricing for your category utilising a mix of market research and Bark’s extensive data and algorithms
  • Be an expert on the competitive landscape within your category, maintaining an up to date understanding of how sellers in that category find new business. This includes using and staying up to date with competing marketplaces, lead generation services and advertising services. Lead the charge in our aggressive approach to switch sellers to Bark and make it the clear market leader
  • Ongoing community management of professionals within your category including creating category specific marketing emails, events, website content, webinars and training materials. Be on first name terms with the top 5 sellers in your categories
  • Be an ambassador for your categories within the business, including training sales staff, driving PR activity and ongoing content creation
  • Work closely with product management and the development team to refine Bark’s features for your category
  • Lead on devising and implementing the customer acquisition and retention strategy for your categories

Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in a similar product marketing or category management role.  
  • Experience in B2C or SMB environments, with high volume online transactions
  • A self starter and able to demonstrate that through past experience.
  • Strong project management and reporting skills
  • Highly numerate and able to analyse data and trends
  • Excellent communication skills written & verbal
  • Commercially astute
  • Driven, ambitious and keen to grow with the company
