About the role

You’ll be our first QA professional and work directly with product owners, the founders and the developers to perform both manual and automated testing across our web and mobile applications. You’ll need to be hands-on and be able to hit the ground running as well as help us build a QA team for the future.

You’ll need to thrive under pressure, enjoy working to tight deadlines and be ambitious and passionate about what you do. This a role with significant opportunity for progression with the company as we grow.

Required skills and experience

  • 5 years of intensive and progressive experience in software application testing with complex systems and at least 2 years of management experience
  • Experience hiring and building QA teams
  • Thorough working experience in QA/Testing methodologies and software development life cycle, including having a complete SDLC understanding
  • Have hands-on experience in a very complex and large web-based and mobile application
  • Must have good analytical skills and proven experience in analysing and testing complex business rules and rule engines
  • Be detail oriented, have excellent writing & verbal communication skills
  • Must have knowledge of testing techniques to cover all possible corner cases for testing verification and validation techniques.
  • Must be a team player, quick responsiveness, contributor, coordinator, cooperative, understanding, polite and adaptive to accept changes in a complex changing environment
  • Self-motivated individual with a desire to learn


Desired skills and experience

  • Experience in a company of a similar size to Bark
  • Experience in high growth environments and of being the sole QA person
  • Experience with high volume e-mail deliverability
  • Experience in sourcing and managing out-sourced QA teams
  • Experience in LAMP stack or Python
