About the role

You’ll be responsible for the uptime, performance and stability of our platform. You’ll employ continuous integration and release management practices ensuring timely and stable releases. You’ll be instrumental in designing and operating our service monitoring and disaster recovery strategy. You’ll work closely with our whole team including engineering, product management and QA to ensure the best experience for our customers.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, innovative and resourceful with a flair for designing and operating best in class systems processes. You’ll enjoy coming up with smart solutions to interesting problems, anal about operating them efficiently and passionate about ensuring the best service for our customers.

 

Required skills and experience

  • Proven full-ownership role of a company’s entire service within a fast, growth, dynamic environment
  • 5+ years of experience in predominantly Linux based production environments (ideally Ubuntu or Centos)
  • Experience of AWS (EC2, RDS, SQS, Cloudwatch), MySQL, PHP, Python and Node.JS
  • Technology agnostic mindset with a proven experience to identify and learn new systems, languages and frameworks
  • Proven experience designing architecture
  • Ownership of disaster recovery and backup strategies, with particular experience of ensuring availability and integrity of MYSQL
  • Strong experience with high volume emailing and strategies for ensuring high deliverability
  • Strong leadership & organisation skills
  • Experience working directly with developers and sysadmins, reviewing code and analysing data
  • Ability to create, implement, and adhere to process and instil a culture of responsibility and pride in service quality
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions
  • Business quality written and communication skills

This is a key role within Bark and carries significant responsibility. You’ll need to be hands-on and also comfortable leading others. You’ll need to be ambitious and keen to grow with the company.
